MACON - The Georgia State Fair opens Monday in Macon. <br>

The fair at Central City Park will offer livestock shows, country music concerts and barbecue cook-offs. <br>

The midway opens at 3 p.m. For the first time in several years, the fair will have a roller coaster on the midway. <br>
<br>
This year the fair is starting about a month early to avoid overlap with Perry's Georgia National Fair in October and to coincide with a scheduled vacation in Bibb County schools.
