BellSouth offers long distance in five more states

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA - BellSouth announced Friday that it will offer long distance service in five additional Southern states in its nine-state region. <br>

BellSouth already had permission from federal regulators to offer long-distance in Georgia and Louisiana. Now the list is expanded to include North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi. <br>

BellSouth offers local and long distance voice, data and Internet packages. <br>
<br>
The company said it plans to expand long distance service to Florida and Tennessee by the end of the year. <br>
<br>
Headquartered in Atlanta, BellSouth has nearly 45 million customers in the United States and 14 other countries. BellSouth also owns 40 percent of Cingular Wireless.
