ATLANTA - A north Georgia woman has sued the cities of Alpharetta and Roswell, claiming she was jailed for too long and on unreasonably high bond.

Martha Liz Sosebe, 37, of Alpharetta claims she was held in the Roswell jail two days longer than the law allows.

Sosebe was arrested in May on charges that she tried to pass a forged prescription at Wal-Mart store. She was freed five days later.

Sosebe was held until she could be taken before a judge because she couldn't pay the $8,300 bond set by Judge Scott Childress.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, names the city of Alpharetta, police Chief Gary George and Wayne Yandell, chief jailer in Roswell.

Alpharetta contracts with Roswell to house prisoners.

Alpharetta city attorney Sam Thomas declined to comment, saying he hadn't seen the lawsuit.
