EVERETT, WASHINGTON - A 19-year-old sailor from the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln pleaded guilty Wednesday in the July 5 rape of a 14-year-old Everett girl.
Raymond Amanosi Odidi of Brentwood, New York, entered the plea in Snohomish County Superior Court. The third-degree child rape charge carries a prison sentence of up to 14 months.
Two shipmates -- 20-year-old Leroy Lamar Holt of Folkston, Georgia, and 22-year-old Keith Martin Jones of Copiague, New York -- also are charged with third-degree rape. Both are scheduled for August 23 trials.
Holt also was scheduled to enter a plea yesterday, but negotiations broke down with prosecutors. His attorney, Pete Mazzone of Everett, says expects a contentious trial.
Prosecutors say each of the men engaged in sex with the girl, who was intoxicated. Court documents say she was among a group of teens partying at a motel when the sailors showed up with alcohol.
She suffered a severe vaginal tear and lost a life-threatening amount of blood.
Odidi is scheduled for sentencing on September 19.
