Georgia man arrested after gun incident released

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY - A Georgia man arrested after security screeners at the Louisville airport found a loaded handgun and a lock-blade knife in his carryon luggage was released Saturday from custody after a federal court hearing. <br> <br> Russell Baldwin, 43, of Atlanta, was arrested Friday morning at Louisville International Airport&#39;s main security checkpoint after an X-ray machine detected the weapons in a black carryon bag in Baldwin&#39;s possession. <br> <br> Baldwin was charged with attempting to carry a weapon or explosive onto an aircraft. Baldwin had a ticket for Southwest Airlines Flight 554 from Louisville to Birmingham, Ala., U.S. Attorney Steve Pence said. <br> <br> A Transportation Safety Authority screener identified a handgun in Baldwin&#39;s luggage, and a knife was found following a search, Transportation Security Administration spokesman Greg Warren said. The gun was a 9mm Smith & Wesson, authorities said. <br> <br> Assistant U.S. Attorney Hancy Jones III said a detention hearing for Baldwin was waived Saturday and he was released on $100,000 unsecured bond. <br> <br> U.S. Magistrate James Moyer set Baldwin&#39;s arraignment for Aug. 28. <br> <br> Jones said Moyer ordered Baldwin to surrender his passport and restricted his travel between Kentucky and Georgia. Moyer also prohibited Baldwin from traveling by air and banned him from entering an airport. <br> <br> Warren said Baldwin told authorities he was a retired police officer from Georgia and stated that he had a permit for the weapon. Jones said Baldwin was required to relinquish the gun permit
