Carl Isaacs' death sentence upheld

ATLANTA - A federal appeals court has upheld the death sentence of Carl Isaacs, convicted as the ringleader of the 1973 Alday family murders in Seminole County. <br> <br> Isaac&#39;s lawyer, Jack Martin, said he would appeal Tuesday&#39;s ruling by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court. <br> <br> Isaacs, 48, was convicted of the slayings in 1974, but the Atlanta appeals court granted him a new trial on grounds that pretrial publicity and community outrage prevented Isaacs and his co-defendants from getting a fair trial. <br> <br> He was convicted again and sentenced to die after a 1988 trial in Houston County Superior Court. George Dungee and Wayne Coleman had their sentences reduced to life in prison. <br> <br> The Aldays were farmers. Five men were shot to death as they arrived home for lunch during a burglary. Mary Alday, the wife of one of the victims, was raped and killed later.
