SAVANNAH - A fishing rod that looked like a pipe bomb caused some areas of the Savannah Airport to be evacuated Tuesday afternoon.
A white PVC pipe with caps on both ends and a wire sticking out was observed at about 3 p.m. Police cleared the baggage claim and ticketing areas and then blew up the device.
They later determined it was a fishing rod. The area was re-opened by 4 p.m. Flights were not affected, and no one was injured.
