ROSWELL - Beleaguered accounting firm Arthur Andersen LLP will sell off 400 original pieces from its corporate art collection, taken from seven of the company's offices in the Southeast, including Atlanta.
The art will be sold at 50 percent off the total assessed value at the Ann Jackson Gallery in Roswell on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The collection was built over 20 years and features Southeast artists such as Ben Berns, Gregory McGaha, Jeanne Sauls, Ann Jackson, Lee White and Jim Dodd.
Gordon Ponsford, owner of Ponsford Limited - an art and sculpture conservation and restoration firm in Acworth - says it's too bad for the company. But he adds, ``At least there's going to be some great art out there for a bargain.''
Andersen would not comment, but Ponsford says the company asked him to organize the liquidation sale. It is expected to generate between $350-$400,000 on a collection valued at about twice that.
Individual pieces from Arthur Andersen's collection range from $300-$25,000. Ponsford says most will be priced at or below $1,500.
