GRIFFIN - Spalding County could be placed on a Phase Four drought alert -- the maximum alert -- as soon as Monday.
Brant Keller of the Griffin Water Authority says the county has just 32 to 34 days of water supply left in the Flint River reservoir.

The reservoir, which supplies the county its water, sank two feet in the past day.

The county has been on a 24-hour water ban since late-June. But with the influx of new residents, the ban has been not enough. Officials say the demand for water is outrunning supply by 10 percent.
Keller says the water authority will meet with major industrial and commercial customers to discuss how to minimize their daily usage.
Officials say they might have to purchase nearly one million gallons of water from Clayton and Henry counties to compensate for the possible shortage.
