ROCK SPRING - Georgia's chief medical examiner met Friday with people whose loved ones were taken to Tri-State Crematory, and told them some remains may never be identified.
Hundreds of bodies were dumped on the grounds of the northwest Georgia crematory instead of being cremated. Operator Ray Brent Marsh has been charged in the case.
Doctor Kris Sperry says technical limitations and families who choose to withhold DNA samples mean that not all 339 uncremated corpses found at the Tri-State Crematory will not be identified.
But Sperry says investigators will not stop doing everything they can.
Of the remains recovered at the crematory, 176 bodies have been identified since the investigation began six months ago.
The meeting at the Walker County Civic Center was the first time investigators and families met to discuss the investigation's progress since mid-June.
