Carbon monoxide kills two people in Marietta

By
MARIETTA - Police say a Marietta man and his girlfriend have died in what they believe is a case of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

The bodies of 44-year-old Marvin Taylor Junior and 49-year-old Jewel Parker Goodlow were found Sunday at the home where they lived.

Cobb police say officers entered the house through an open window. They found Goodlow's body in a stairwell, and Taylor's body in the basement, next to a gas generator.

No one had been in contact with either Taylor or Goodlow since Tuesday. Investigators believe the two have been dead for a few days.

Police think the generator was responsible for the fatal levels of carbon monoxide. Authorities say they believe Taylor was using the generator because his electricity had been cut off earlier in the week.

This is the second fatal case of carbon monoxide poisoning this year in Cobb County.

Thirty-five-year-old Kenneth Thiel was found dead last month in the basement of his Marietta home. Investigators say carbon monoxide fumes from a generator in a room that was not properly ventilated caused his death.
