Kahn beats Darden, avoids runoff

In northwest Georgia&#39;s District 11, Roger Kahn won the Democratic nomination over former Congressman Buddy Darden by a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent. <br> <br> Kahn will face either Phil Gingrey or Cecil Staton, who advanced to a Republican runoff. <br> <br> In the newly created District 13 in metro Atlanta, veteran state Senator David Scott won a crowded Democratic primary with 55 percent of the vote. <br> <br> District 12 - another new district that stretches 200 miles from Athens to Augusta to Savannah - also had a crowded field. <br> <br> Charles Walker Junior of Augusta, the son of the state Senate majority leader, won 33 percent of the Democratic vote to get into a runoff with state Representative Ben Allen of Augusta. <br> <br> On the Republican side, Georgia Southern professor Max Burns and Barbara Dooley - the wife of University of Georgia athletic director Vince Dooley - were running neck and neck. <br> <br> In District Three, former Macon Mayor Jim Marshall won the Democratic primary with 55 percent and will face Republican businessman Calder Clay in November.
