AUGUSTA - A man accused of taking part in a gunrunning operation was sentenced Thursday to 27 months in prison. <br>

Dwaine Blount, 33, is the third person to be sentenced for buying more than 100 handguns at Augusta-area pawn shops for resale in New York City. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy, making false statements in the purchase of a handgun, and dealing in firearms without a license. <br>

Randall J. Beach, a special agent for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said undercover agents in New York were able to recover some of the weapons, but most of them probably ended up on the black market and were used in crimes. <br>

James R. Marshall, 34, was sentenced to 56 months in prison, and Melissa A. Coney, 34, was sentenced to 15 months.
