GRIFFIN - A grand jury indicted a woman Friday on four counts of murder for the fatal shooting of her two terminally ill sons.
Superior Court Judge Ben Miller said Carol Carr is charged with two counts of malice murder and two counts of felony murder.
The 63-year-old Carr is accused of killing her sons, 42-year-old Randy Scott and 41-year-old Andy Scott, who suffered from Huntington's disease, a degenerative genetic nerve disorder that causes involuntary body movement, dementia and death. Their father, Carr's first husband, died of the disease.
Carr has been in custody since she shot her sons in their beds at a Griffin nursing home June Eighth.
Spalding County District Attorney William McBroom declined to comment. A court date hasn't been set.
Carr's supporters gathered in front of the Spalding County courthouse yesterday and asked that the justice system spare a mother who couldn't stand to see her sons in pain.
Carr's last surviving son, James Scott, has asked that all charges be dropped against her. He said she has suffered enough already and has seen too many of her family die.
Miller has declined to release Carr on bond because she could present ``a period of heightened distress and risk for suicide.''
