Allen said Friday that Shawn Christoper Harris would be retried Sept. 16.

Hosiea Sparks, 19, also charged with murder in the case, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter under a plea bargain agreement and received a 20-year prison sentence.

Police said the Jan. 11 shooting happened after a party was broken up for being too loud. An argument broke out between two groups of young men in a nearby grocery store parking lot and Lane was shot.

Sparks testified that Harris first fired a handgun into the crowd, after which Sparks fired at least one shot himself.
