Inmate dies after falling from garbage truck

COLUMBUS - A Muscogee County Prison inmate died after a sanitation truck backed over him Tuesday. <br> <br> Lonnie Carswell, 35, of Macon, fell from the back of the truck as it was backing down a dead-end street about 9:30 a.m., Deputy Warden Bill Adamson said. <br> <br> The truck, driven by a Sanitation Department worker, continued rolling backward and crushed Carswell. He died later at The Medical Center after extensive surgery, Warden Charlie Golden said. <br> <br> ``It&#39;s a tragic accident,&#39;&#39; Mayor Bobby Peters said. ``I think that is the first time anything like this has happened here.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Carswell was an experienced sanitation worker who usually rode on the back of the truck, Peters said.
