Swygert decides to undergo surgery Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina backup quarterback Bennett Swygert will undergo knee surgery this weekend instead of treating the injury with vigorous rehabilitation. <br> <br> Swygert injured the ACL in his left knee during a scrimmage Aug. 18. It was the second time that he has suffered ligament damage in that knee. <br> <br> The freshman had surgery at the end of his senior season at Summerville High School. <br> <br> Swygert let the swelling go down the past 10 days before making the decision to operate Wednesday. It&#39;s unclear when he&#39;ll return to practice, but he&#39;s definitely out for the season, the school said.
