Mother found guilty of obstruction of officer, acquitted of two other charges

JONESBORO - The mother of an autistic man, accused of obstructing a police officer to protect her son, was found guilty of the charge Friday by a Clayton County jury. <br>

Fifty-four-year-old Julia Munger was acquitted on two other charges of battery. <br>
<br>
She will be sentenced on September sixth and faces up to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine. <br>
<br>
Police were called to a Publix supermarket January 13 after 24-year-old Billy Munger started screaming obscenities from the store's men's room. <br>
<br>
Julia Munger was accused of obstructing Clayton County police Officer Shannon Stroup and grabbing her arm hard enough to create bruises when the officer tried to restrain her son after he hit Stroup in the face. <br>
<br>
Munger was charged after police examined the store videotape of the incident.
