INDIANAPOLIS - The RCA Dome will be the site of the women's basketball Final Four in 2005.

Indianapolis already had been selected as the site of the championship, but the NCAA did not decide until late last week whether to play the three games at Conseco Fieldhouse or the dome.
It's the first time the RCA Dome, which has played host to the men's Final Four in 1991, 1997 and 2000, has been selected for the women's championship. The men's tournament returns to the RCA Dome in 2006.
NCAA officials made the announcement Monday, after the Championships/Competition Cabinet approved Indianapolis and regional sites for 2004, 2005 and 2006 at its three-day meeting last week.

The 2005 championship will be held April 3-5.

Next year's women's Final Four is scheduled for Atlanta's Georgia Dome, and the 2004 championship will be played in New Orleans' Sports Arena. The 2006 championship is set for Boston and the 2007 title game for Cleveland.

The committee also chose Hartford, Conn.; Norfolk, Va.; Norman, Okla.; and Tempe, Ariz., as the 2004 regional championship sites. Those games will be played March 27-30.
Philadelphia; Seattle; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Kansas City, Mo., were selected as the 2005 regional sites for games that will be played March 19-22. The 2006 regional sites are Cleveland; Fairfield, Conn.; San Antonio, Texas; and Albuquerque, N.M., and will play host to games March 18-21.
The committee also approved first-round sites for the 2003 tournament. Those games will be played March 22-25 in Manhattan, Kan.; University Park, Pa.; Norfolk, Va.; Boulder, Col.; Storrs, Conn.; Norman, Okla.; West Lafayette, Ind.; Stanford, Calif.; Eugene, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; Athens, Ga.; Ruston, La.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Lubbock, Texas; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Cincinnati.
