SNELLVILLE - A Snellville man accused of torturing and killing a puppy that belonged to his estranged girlfriend now faces felony charges.
Animal cruelty charges against William Terrezz Stephens, 41, were forwarded to the Gwinnett Superior Court by Magistrate Richard Alexander during a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Stephens is accused of shoving Pegasus, an eight-week-old Rottweiler, into a microwave June 24 for about 12 seconds, Gwinnett County police officer M.T. Essex said.
The dog was placed in the microwave a second time and then stabbed. Police reports said Stephens was at the woman's home when he tortured the puppy. He removed it only after it started to cry.
The dog later died.
Stephens allegedly told the woman she would be next, according to the police report.
