Soldier drowns while swimming at West Virginia lake

CANVAS, WEST VIRGINIA - A U.S. Army solider based in Georgia has drowned while swimming at Summersville Lake in Nicholas County, West Virginia. <br> <br> Divers recovered the body of 21-year-old Private Max Scott Hagerman of Fort Stewart, Georgia, from the lake at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities said today that his body was found about one hour after he went underwater and failed to surface. <br> <br> Hagerman was pronounced dead at Summersville Memorial Hospital. <br> <br> Witnesses told police Hagerman had been swimming for about one hour near Brocks Bridge in the Canvas area before he disappeared. <br> <br> The body has been sent to the state medical examiner&#39;s officer.
