ATLANTA - Chicago right fielder Sammy Sosa missed Friday night's game against the Braves because of a family emergency.
Cubs spokesman Chuck Wasserstrom says Sosa flew back to Chicago earlier Friday and isn't expected to return to Atlanta for the final two games of the series.
Roosevelt Brown took Sosa's spot in the outfield, and Moises Alou batted third in the lineup.
It's the first game Sosa has missed this season. In 83 games, he's batting .307 with 28 homers and 58 RBI's. He's scheduled to start in next week's All-Star game.
