ATLANTA - Mrs. Smith's Bakeries in Suwanee is voluntarily recalling 3.5-ounce packages of Mrs. Freshley's, BlueBird, Aunt Hannah and Blue Ribbon carrot cake because they may contain undeclared whey, the Georgia commissioner of agriculture said Friday.
Some people are allergic to whey, a dairy product, and consuming the products could lead to an allergic reaction.
Commissioner Tommy Irvin said the recalled cakes were in clear plastic packages marked with ``best if used by'' Aug. 4. They were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through vending machines.
