CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA - Linebacker Ahmad Brooks, one of the jewels of Virginia's best-ever recruiting class in February, will not play for the Cavaliers this season while trying to improve his standardized test scores at prep school, his family said.
Brooks, 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, could have enrolled at Virginia as a partial qualifier under NCAA regulations, but decided instead to attend Fork Union Military Academy's postgraduate program and work on raising his test scores to freshman eligibility levels.
Brooks, who lives in Woodbridge, picked Virginia over Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Florida State. He intends to sign with the Cavaliers again next season, said his father, Perry Brooks.
