Grant to help build memorial for crematory families

LAFAYETTE - Walker County has received state grants for more than $185,000 to help defray the cost of investigating the Tri-State Crematory in Noble and to help build a memorial in honor of the victims. <br> <br> Authorities found 339 discarded corpses at the northwest Georgia crematory in February. Out of those, only half have been identified. Crematory operator Ray Brent Marsh has been accused of taking money for cremations he never performed. <br> <br> Walker County received $140,193 from the Georgia Emergency Management Association on Friday to help pay for the investigation and recovery operation at the crematory. <br> <br> The county accepted a $45,000 state grant Thursday to help purchase land and to build a memorial park.
