Braves play two against Cubs

MONTREAL - The Atlanta Braves begin a two-game series Monday night in Chicago against the Cubs.

Atlanta dropped the last two games of a four-game series Sunday night to end their 13-series winning streak, one shy of the all-time franchise record shared by the 1893 Boston Beaneaters and the 1993 Braves.

Wil Cordero hit his third career grand slam and had five RBIs to lead the Montreal Expos to a 10-3 win over the Braves. Cordero -- who started in left field in place of newly acquired Cliff Floyd -- homered on an 0-2 pitch from Damian Moss (4-4) after Vladimir Guerrero drew the second of his four walks to load the bases with two out in the third.

The second-place Expos are within nine and one-half games of Atlanta in the National League East.

The Braves -- who lost for just the fifth time in their last 22 games -- had not lost consecutive games since losing two in a row from June 16-18.
