Alliant Energy Resources to buy Wisconsin power plant

ATLANTA - Mirant Corporation has agreed to sell a Wisconsin power plant to Alliant Energy Resources for $109 million. <br> <br> The companies made the announcement earlier Tuesday. <br> <br> The 309-megawatt, gas-fired power plant in Neenah, Wisconsin, about 75 miles north of Milwaukee, went online in May 2000. Its output is under contract to Milwaukee-based W.E. Energies through June 2008. <br> <br> Atlanta-based energy trader Mirant has been selling assets feverishly since December when its debt was reduced to non-investment grade status by a key credit-rating agency. <br> <br> The company is working to reduce debt and shore up its finances. <br> <br> The Wisconsin plant sale brings the amount of assets Mirant has sold this year to $1.5 billion.
