FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA - A Georgia physician says he owes his life to three tourists who rescued him after he passed out and sank to the bottom of a hotel swimming pool.
Dr. Harvey Leslie of Decatur was practicing snorkeling Sunday in the pool at the Radisson Inn near Fort Walton Beach, on the Florida Panhandle, when he lost consciousness.
David Bramlett, of Stockton, California, brought the 48-year-old Leslie to the surface. Roger Thomas, of Lafayette, Georgia, helped pull the doctor out of the pool.
Kim Plylar, an emergency room nurse from Prattville, Alabama, administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while Bramlett massaged Leslie's chest. The doctor was breathing again before paramedics arrived.
Leslie said Wednesday that he doesn't know why he passed out but just was happy to be alive. As a doctor who saves people's lives all the time, Leslie said, ``This time somebody got to save me for a change.''
