ORLANDO, FLORIDA - Jacque Vaughn, a backup point guard during his five-year NBA career, signed Wednesday with the Orlando Magic. Vaughn played with the Atlanta Hawks last season.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vaughn started 16 games and appeared in all 82 games in the 2001-2002 season. He joins Hanno Mottola as the only players to achieve that feat for the Atlanta Hawks last year.

Vaughn averaged 6.6 points, 4.3 assists and shot 47 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from 3-point range. He also led or tied the Hawks in assists 27 times and in scoring twice.

Vaughn is expected to compete for the Magic's starting point guard role. That would possibly allow last year's starter, Darrell Armstrong, to move to a backup role.
Vaughn has appeared in 200 consecutive NBA games, the eighth-longest active streak in the league.
