CHAMBLEE - An eight million-dollar Latino shopping center is expected to open at the end of the year in Chamblee in metro Atlanta.

The shopping center will be called Plaza del Sol.

Jeff Humphreys is director of the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. He says the new shopping center will be a ``reflection of the increasing level of wealth and income'' in the Hispanic community.

The Plaza del Sol project marks the second-largest business deal involving a partnership of Latinos in the metro area.

The first was the founding of the United Americas Bank in 1999.
Plaza del Sol will include a sun inlaid in a central open-air plaze, a stage, fountains and suites with individual entrances. It's being built on a site that held an ironworks factory.
