PHILADELPHIA - Forward Matt Harpring became an unrestricted free agent Wednesday when the Philadelphia 76ers rescinded their qualifying contract offer.
Harpring, a former Georgia Tech player acquired in a five-player deal that sent Tyrone Hill to Cleveland last summer, averaged 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in 81 games last season.
The Sixers gave him a qualifying offer of about $2.3 million on July 1 in order to retain matching rights if he received an offer from another team. Harpring now is free to sign with any team. It has been reported that the Chicago Bulls are interested in the four-year veteran.
