ATHENS - A public health professor from Columbia University says the state's growing Hispanic population is not getting adequate health care.
Marilyn Aguirre-Molina said some Latino immigrants don't get help because they don't have enough money or they're in the country illegally.
She said others use the emergency room as their primary health care provider because language or cultural hurdles prevent their needs from being met.
Aguirre-Molina gave the keynote address Monday to mark the start of a three-day conference called ``Salud! Addressing Latino Health Challenges.''
The conference is being held at the University of Georgia.
