CLARKSTON - An apartment fire at an aging building that housed immigrant families in DeKalb County sent flames leaping hundreds of feet in the air during rush hour Tuesday. <br>

The fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. and engulfed the entire building within minutes. It displaced about 16 families, most of whom lost all of their belongings. All were evacuated with no injuries were reported. <br>

The entire multi-story Indian Valley Apartments building was destroyed but the flames as plumes of black smoke poured skyward. <br>

Initial reports stated that the fire started in the kitchen of one of the apartments.
