Muslims still feeling shunned

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville Muslim says America's war on terrorism is "no longer a war on terrorism, but a war on Islam."

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Engy Abdalla, a Gainesville homemaker from Egypt, is one of a number of Georgia Muslims who say they are still being viewed with suspicion - eight months after the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Abdalla and others say, for instance, they fear that if they donate to a Muslin cause, the U.S. government may freeze that organization's assets.

"I want to put money in the right place because when you put on a veil, it's enough for people to think that you're a terrorist," Abdalla told the AJC. "It's no longer a war on terrorism but a war on Islam."
