GRAND JUNCTION - A 39-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his wife after her body was found in a Grand Junction, Colorado, landfill. Authorities continued to search the landfill today for the couple's missing daughter.
Police said Michael Blagg was taken into custody without incident last night at his mother's house in Warner Robins, Georgia, 120 miles southeast of Atlanta.
He was being held on a one (m) million dollar bond for investigation of first-degree murder. Police in Colorado were notified that Blagg would fight extradition, which could take several weeks.
His lawyer, Stephan Schweissing, said today he could not comment on the charge because he had not seen the arrest warrant.
He said Blagg had planned to return to Grand Junction today to begin making funeral arrangements.
Schweissing said -- quote -- ``Certainly it's a difficult situation for him and this has been a very emotional time for Mister Blagg. He's doing his best to remain positive.''
Thirty-four-year-old Jennifer Blagg and the couple's six-year-old daughter Abby disappeared from the family's Grand Junction home on November 13th. Michael Blagg told authorities he returned home from work to find a pool of blood in the master bedroom and his wife and daughter gone.
