WASHINGTON - Conservation groups are praising a bill introduced in Congress Wednesday that would protect parts of the Chattahoochee National Forest from logging and road construction.
Nationwide, the bi-partisan bill would protect 58 million acres of national forest roadless areas from most logging and road construction.
In the Chattahoochee, the bill would protect areas such as Sarah's Creek and additions to Blood Mountain, Raven Cliff and Ellicott Rock Wilderness areas.
Conservationists are calling on the Bush administration to keep its word to protect the widerness areas by co-sponsoring the legislation.
