ATLANTA - The daughter of Atlanta Braves second baseman Marcus Giles, born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighing only 1 pound, remained in serious condition Thursday.
Lundyn Mae Giles was delivered Monday by Caesarean section at Atlanta's Northside Hospital. She was in the neonatal intensive care section of the hospital and faces the potential for serious health problems. She is expected to be hospitalized for months.
``She's doing good, but it's a three-month marathon,'' Giles said before Thursday's game against the New York Mets.
Giles, on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained ankle, was scheduled to go on a rehabilitation assignment to the minors this weekend, but that has been delayed so he can remain with his wife, Tracy, and their baby.
