Deputy says slaying victim sought help once

ATLANTA - A Fayette County woman who disappeared five years ago once called the sheriff&#39;s office to report that her husband was being abusive, a deputy testified in the husband&#39;s murder trial. <br> <br> Deputy Steve Borders testified Friday that he went to the home of Beverley Watson on Aug. 3, 1994, after she called 911. Borders said he could see she was frightened of her husband, but Jim Watson no longer was there. Borders saw no ``immediate danger&#39;&#39; and left. <br> <br> Jim Watson told police in January 1997 that his 33-year-old wife had walked away from their home, leaving her car, clothes and her two children. She had planned to file for divorce and had made a deposit on an apartment for her and the children. <br> <br> In 1999, a surveyor found her remains in south Fulton County, almost 20 miles from the Watsons&#39; Fayette County home. <br> <br> Fayette County sheriff&#39;s Cpl. Ethan Harper said when Watson reported his wife missing on Jan. 20, 1997, he became suspicious. <br> <br> ``He was calm. It kind of struck me as odd,&#39;&#39; Harper said. ``I told an investigator that something is kind of strange. You might want to talk to him.&#39;&#39;
