The Seminoles (60-13), the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament, scored eight runs in the first inning to help stave off elimination. Taking advantage of four walks from Notre Dame starter Pete Ogilvie (7-4), Florida State gave right-hander Blair Varnes plenty of cushion before he even took the mound.
Drew started the big inning with a leadoff double and scored on Brown's two-run double. Brown improved to 14-of-17 with the bases loaded this season. Drew capped the scoring with an RBI single.
