Robbery suspect shot while trying to escape police

DORAVILLE - A DeKalb County police officer shot a robbery suspect during a pre-dawn chase Wednesday. <br>

Authorities reported that the man was shot in the abdomen and was in critical, but stable condition at a local hospital. <br>
<br>
Police said the chase stemmed from a robbery outside a Doraville nightclub around 2 a.m. A waitress and another man leaving the club were approached by a man and a woman. Police said the waitress was able to run away but the man was robbed. <br>
<br>
DeKalb County officers responding to the incident chased the suspects, who were in a pickup truck. At some point during the chase, the man and woman jumped out of the pickup truck to escape police. <br>
<br>
Police said the man, who tried to scale a fence, pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers. An officer then shot the suspect in the abdomen. <br>
<br>
The woman was caught and arrested. The names of the suspects were not released.
