GAINESVILLE - Brenau University announces that Dr. Gale Hansen Starich has been appointed as Dean of the School of Health and Science.
"Dr. Starich brings to her position a strong background in science and health science,
considerable experience in administration, teaching, grant-writing and special outreach program development," said Dr. Helen Ray, vice president for academic affairs, who
lead the search committee.
Starich assumes her position on July 1 and will provide leadership for the departments of
nursing, occupational therapy, mathematics and science.
Starich served one year as Dean of Health Science at Athens Technical College. Prior to that she worked in Nevada where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees and served
in many roles as professor, administrator and special project manager.
Most recently these included: Executive
Director of the Western Student Medical Research Forum, Eisenhower Program Coordinator for the University and Community College System of Nevada; Faculty Fellow and K-16
Coordinator for the Nevada University System; Associate Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Physiology and Cell Biology; Scientific Director of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute High School Science Impact Program.
She earned a bachelor's degree in pre-medicine, a master's degree in zoology and a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno.
