GAINESVILLE - A ceremony was held Thursday in Gainesville to mark the end of a weeklong renovation project at a church in a blighted area of town. <br>

The work at the predominantly-black Greater A Manger Holiness Church on Cooley Drive was undertaken by young people from the mostly-white First Baptist Church on Green Street. <br>

About 50 young people took part in the project, which began Monday and ended at noon Thursday with the singing of "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" by residents of the Cooley Drive area and the First Baptist workers.<br>

Mayor Myrtle Figueras was among those on hand for the ceremony.<br>
