ATLANTA - Braves pitcher Greg Maddux left Saturday night's game against the Boston Red Sox with a strained calf muscle.
Maddux injured his left leg in the sixth inning when he ran to cover first base on a grounder by Brian Daubach. First baseman Julio Franco wound up making the play unassisted.
After giving up four straight hits in the seventh, Maddux was relieved by Chris Hammond.
``I came out because they knocked me out, not because I got hurt,'' Maddux said.
Maddux cruised through six innings, retiring 15 of 17 batters and throwing only 71 pitches. He was wearing a wrap on the leg after the game but said he expected to make his next start.
``Don't worry about it. I ain't worried about it,'' Maddux said.
