LAWRENCEVILLE - A superior court judge has thrown up the latest roadblock to what some people say is the city of Buford's attempt to annex the Mall of Georgia.
The Gwinnett County judge ruled that Buford's Buford's annexation of two-and-a-third acres near the Mall of Georgia unlawful.
The ruling hinges on the wording of state law - specifically as it relates to the use of the words "or" and "and" and what constitutes "right of way," according to state law.
City officials deny the move to annex the parcel is an attempt by Buford to bring the mall into the city - and with it millions of dollars to the city tax base.
