Some crematory victims working against Rep. Snow

LAFAYETTE - A man whose mother was among the hundreds of bodies recovered from the Tri-State Crematory has formed a political action committee to defeat Representative Mike Snow, the local representative who some blame for helping the crematory avoid inspections. <br> <br> Rock Thomas, of Lookout Mountain, says the committee will raise money for ads targeting the Democrat from Chickamauga. Thomas says Snow is responsible for allowing the crematory to operate without state oversight. <br> <br> ``This tragedy was a direct result of the political good old boy system,&#39;&#39; Thomas wrote in a statement introducing the Noble Crematory Committee for Truth and Accountability. <br> <br> Snow sponsored a 1992 funeral home bill amendment that exempted private crematories from the requirement that a licensed funeral director must operate the facility. <br> <br> Snow says he made a judgment call ten years ago and takes responsibility for that. <br> <br> Jay Neal is the only announced Republican challenger for Snow&#39;s seat. Neal has accused Snow of getting ``special favors&#39;&#39; for the crematory owners and said it would be a major issue in the campaign. <br> <br> Crematory operator Ray Brent Marsh faces hundreds of theft charges for allegedly taking money for cremations he never performed. More than 300 discarded bodies were found at the northwest Georgia crematory in February.
