HOLLY SPRINGS, Ga. - Carl Thomas Barrett, the former mayor of Holly Springs, has died of a bone marrow disease at Northside Hospital-Cherokee. He was 73. <br>

Barrett was elected mayor of Holly Springs in 1954 when he was 25 and served 14 years. He was elected to a second stint as mayor of the Cherokee County city in 1991 and served until 1993. <br>

Services for Barrett were Wednesday at Holly Springs United Methodist Church. <br>

Survivors include a sister, Ann Payne of Calhoun. <br>
