FAIRLAWN, OHIO - Republic Technologies International, a steel company in bankruptcy, said Thursday that it has sold a plant in Georgia to AmeriSteel Corporation for seven million dollars. <br>

A federal bankruptcy judge approved the steel bar maker's sale of a plant in Cartersville, Georgia, to Tampa, Florida-based AmeriSteel. The plant has 23 employees. <br>

Republic has about four-thousand employees and had 2001 sales of about one billion dollars. <br>

The rest of Republic remains up for sale. It is considering a bid of two investment partnerships offering a deal worth $450 million for about 60 percent of its assets.
