CARROLLTON - Offensive coordinator Mike Ledford has been named interim football coach at West Georgia to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gary Otten. <br>

Otten said Friday that his heart is no longer in the coaching profession. Braves athletic director Ed Murphy said a search for Otten's replacement will begin immediately. Otten steps down after 13 years in the West Georgia program, having served as offensive line coach and offensive coordinator before becoming the head coach in January 2001. <br>

The Braves have won at least eight games in each of the last seven seasons, including shares of three Gulf South Conference championships and four trips to the NCAA Division Two playoffs.
