Georgia football players help build Habitat for Humanity home

ATHENS - Georgia&#39;s football team is building some chemistry while helping to build a house. <br> <br> Players and coaches started work on the Habitat for Humanity home April 13, joining area companies ReMax and Homebanc Mortgage. It should be finished July 14. <br> <br> Each Saturday, a group of about 15 people from the football program works an eight-hour shift at the house. <br> <br> The team got involved with the program through John Brantley, a former Georgia player who&#39;s now the Athens branch manager for Homebanc. <br> <br> Brantley, who played professionally for three teams, including Joe Gibbs&#39; Washington Redskins, asked coach Mark Richt about getting the football program involved. <br> <br> Habitat for Humanity acquires the land for all its homes, and each one costs about $50,000. A sponsor -- such as Homebanc and ReMax -- initially pays for the home, which then is given to an area family. <br> <br> An interest-free loan is paid off monthly, usually over a 20- to 25-year period.
