Cinnamon roll maker announces president's departure

ATLANTA - Cinnabon Incorporated said Wednesday that Gregg Kaplan has resigned as president to pursue new business opportunities. <br> <br> Chris Elliott, chief operating officer at Cinnabon, a subsidiary of AFC Enterprises Incorporated, will handle Kaplan&#39;s duties until a new president is hired. The 41-year-old Kaplan joined AFC in June 1996 after working at Shoney&#39;s Incorporated and Wendy&#39;s. <br> <br> Cinnabon operates 565 bakery franchises in 43 states and 17 countries, purveying cinnamon rolls in shopping malls and airports. The company was founded 17 years ago in Seattle and had 2001 revenue of $205 million. <br> <br> AFC Enterprises operates nearly 3,900 franchise restaurants under brand names such as Church&#39;s Chicken, Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits and Seattle&#39;s Best Coffee.
